Q: iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

Robert

my disappointment here is the hiding. Apple has made no official acknowledgement whatsoever. I'm loyal. If they came out and said we know of an issue, are working it, give a timeline, or offer to waive some costs, that'd be great. But the hiding is only making it  worse.

"I Think they were removed because they were untrue. The software fix 9.3.2 wasn't fixing anything and those who posted were claiming it did. A couple posts also said it was free to be a developer. That's not true either."

Wrong, on both counts. The beta fixed the BT issue for me, AND it was free to register as a developer to get the beta.

Seems to be some confusion by some un-informed people here trying to help. I've included the link. Being a developer costs $99 a year. Where some are confused is simply getting this beta to test before others. That doesn't make you a developer. It is true, as I said before, I "Think" that is why it was removed. Most people were not having success. Just like some are having success with other fixes without the beta.

And here is the link to download public betas FOR FREE. Why don't you try it for yourself before posting your opinions about what works and what doesn't work?

The beta software program is free, but everything about the beta software is confidential, at least that is what the terms and conditions state.

So I think we are not allowed to post about it.

Thanks. Give me a few minutes to find the part where it says being a Developer is free. This is just to download betas, not be a developer. I'll get back to you. :-)

I've returned my iPhone SE but might get a new if IOS 9.3.2 really solves the bluetooth issues properly.

So it would be great if more that has experienced these SE-problems would try the IOS 9.3.2 beta from https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/

    PS. From https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/faq

Do I have to pay a fee to join the program or pay for software?

No. Both the program and software are free.

You are again confused. I actually signed up as a "developer" for free by using my Apple ID at the link below. I now have a Developer account, and so can you. Just click the Account tab, and enter your Apple ID and password. Then, go to "News and Updates" to get the latest betas for everything Apple has released. Again, give it a try first for yourself:

I returned the two SEs I bought for myself and my wife because I didn't want to go past the buyer's remorse date without a fix.  If Apple had announced they would have a software fix soon I would have kept them.  I love the size and power.  Not sure I'll come back if it is fixed.  This whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth.

    .....

Forget it, apparently you can't tell anyone if it worked or not..

Is the public beta software confidential?

Yes, the public beta software is Apple confidential information. Don’t install the public beta software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others. Don’t blog, post screen shots, tweet, or publicly post information about the public beta software, and don't discuss the public beta software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the Apple Beta Software Program. If Apple has publicly disclosed technical information about the public beta software, it is no longer considered confidential.

My SE bluetooth audio works fine now too after doing the thing we're not allowed to talk about.
