Q: iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

Robert

Tensions are rising, people are getting annoyed / confused / angry at each other.  This is 100% Apple's fault for not managing the situation properly.  Call the problem whatever you want to call it, but Apple should have come forward, acknowledged it, and said "don't worry we're correcting the issue".

By ignoring it, they've brought a lot of anger upon themselves and on their Geniuses who they've instructed to deny the issue to the public (or simply never informed them).

I've been sitting on the sidelines waiting to buy 2 SEs for a month now.  First I couldn't get one because every Apple store and every carrier store was sold out.  Now I'm waiting to hear an official "all clear" after a supported release.  Hopefully the general release is pushed up as some news sources cite a mid-May to early-June release.  My wife and cousin are not as patient as I am, both passing on the SE for other phones.  Since I keep my phones a long time, I am willing to wait and make sure I get the phone I really want and not settle.

I basically agree, but the only problem for those who's return window on their SE is closing is that if this is a hardware issue then it may not get fully fixed until the next version of the SE, if there will be one.  As you may recall, the iPhone 4 had an antenna/reception problem that was not corrected until the 4s.

My SE bluetooth audio works fine now too after doing the thing we're not allowed to talk about.

A quick search revealed the following posters, in addition to ryan, that have stated the thing we cannot talk about has resolved the issue:

    Senna67

    Ggwwk

Just picked Senna67, jangjong and peppespizza at random looking for posts proclaiming happiness with your beta, but could not find them.  I think I've wasted enough time on your posts.

3 of the names I posted are on Page 31.  Another one is right above your last post.

I wonder if Apple would stoop so low as to pad this discussion with users  in hopes of calming people down until they actually found a fix?   I noticed you spend an alot of amount of time on here considering your phone is fixed with the supposedly beta release. You must just like to help people

Yep, I do like to help people who are as frustrated as I was.

Basically, you can't believe when anyone proclaims certainty on this forum, and fooling around with beta releases is inadvisable for anyone who uses their device for things more important than entertainment or arranging morning coffee at Starbucks.  So the most important point is that there has still been no solution that Apple is comfortable enough to release to its millions of regular customers, despite what anyone here says.

Will it affect my IPhone if I try Beta? It says they suggest using an alternative device when testing it

So true so true. I returned my SE on the 12th day of the 14 day return and im glad I did,  if nothing else just to prove a point.  These phone should've been tested  more before they were released (software and hardware).  I may repurchase it later on but it will only be when the phone works atleast as well as the one it was suppose to replace (5s).  This one did not.

Not necessarily.  You have to back up your phone, install the beta.  If it solves your problem, you still don't know what other bugs may still be in the beta.  If you want to go back, you have to restore from your backup.  So, no you won't damage your phone.  You may just end up wasting time or with unanticipated bugs.  Or you may be 100% happy with the beta.  It's a gamble.

I'm sort of in a similar position.  I brought it in to swap for a replacement before I knew that the bluetooth issue was a world-wide problem, but they had no 64GB Space Greys in stock.  So I returned it and customer service ordered a new one for me, to be shipped 5/20.  So I have until then to cancel unless a fix comes out.

Yes. It worked for me. Thankfully someone posted the link here to download the second beta. I couldn't figure out how to get it by searching Apple's website. I had 30 days to return my phone to Verizon because it's on a business account. So I'm glad I got it working before that expired. I'm using a Ford Sync system in my truck. The difference is night and day. They definitely fixed it in this beta for me. This whole problem is pretty pathetic if you ask me. I started buying Apple stuff years ago just because it always worked and I didn't have to waste time making it work myself. This is a big confidence shaker.

I don't think you can just upgrade to final releases through the automatic update if you have the a beta version on your phone.   You have to delete the beta installed and reinstall a public release and then update to the latest public release.
