Q: iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

Add to horrible Bluetooth connection from my iPhone SE 9.3.1:

    Panasonic KX-TG78 phone

    Honda Odyssey 2008

    Motorola Sonic Rider

    Toyota Prius 2012

it's not the cars nor the speakerphone.  it's the phone.  I had a Motorola KRZR prior to this, and that one worked flawlessly, and we also have a iPhone 5S linking to all of the above with no issues.

they really need to fix this!

I have the same problem. My iPhone 5s  and new LG G5 work perfectly in my Bluetooth cars and with my Bluetooth roadster. But the iPhone SE Bluetooth is not  working well. Terrible static and crackles on the receiver side. I spoke to Apple today. She knew nothing until I pointed her to this thread. I have no idea  if and when we will see a fix.

There is no "fix."  Some have claimed that the second beta of 9.3.2 has helped, and others say that the third beta has reintroduced the problem.  No one knows for sure whether this is a hardware or software problem, as Apple has said absolutely nothing.  From reading this board and others it's pretty much certain that 100% of the SE's come with the problem, and that they show 0% compatibility with all bluetooth audio devices.  Anyone who says they know what the problem is or when it will be corrected is either guessing or lying.  Your best bet, unless bluetooth audio is unimportant to you, is either to avoid buying an SE for now or return it while you can unless the problem is definitively corrected prior to the closing of your return window.

Yes, don't listen to me.  After all, I'm saying that we won't know it's fixed until it's fixed.  Blasphemy.

    Oh, I'm saving this post.....

Some of us already have SEs that are fixed, so it's moronic for you, who doesn't have an SE, to claim that there is no fix. Having said that, I agree that if those that are having BT problems they find unacceptable are within their return period, it would be prudent to return it while they can and repurchase it once the fix that some of us already had is made available to the general public.

    Hi Guys!

I've the same problem... iPhone SE 64 GB space gray with my Sony MW1 and with my Volkswagen Golf VII audio from bluetooth calls is terrible.. If the person speak a little lower is better.. Audio from music streaming in bluetooth is perfect..

What I do? I've buy my SE 04/27 .... Until when i'm in the period for return? I love this watch, and i don't want to roll back to 6/6S

I don't understand if all of the SE have this problem or not... I can change mine, but is 1 hour driving from my home..

    Have a good day all.

Sorry, not true - my SE connects faultlessly with no issue on bluetooth sound and has continued to do so (as reported on page 18 of this discussion). Agree, we lucky ones are few but it does seem to indicate its not a hardware issue unless Apple are using different bluetooth chip suppliers, in which case those given replacements would go away happy because you would think Apple would replace from the "good chip" stock to avoid more flak!. Neither is it likely a car issue because that would point to the Audi TT being the only vehicle with compatible bluetooth chips/software - very hard to believe also.

More likely it's software related but no one knows for sure so your advice for those concerned is valid.

THis is 2016 and big companies like Apple don't and won't improve on communication.

They only deliver the ( not flawless) hardware for that.

I knew that Apple was not the king of admitting mistakes and errors, but it have to say

I've become more and more disappointed in this organisation.

The denial, removing posts and zero updates make me worry.

Probably this is just a minor issue to them and has no priority?

Funny thing is; would I tread my clients like Apple does, there would be no client left..

What's the problem by admitting a mistake, letting people know your working on it,

point out the (software/hardware-) problem and keep customers posted when a fix is due?

    Hello Gijsteraar

This is normal for a company who left the contact to their client behind. They are so arrogant an need to fall down to the bottom and strungle again for live as in the mid nineties.

I can't imagine why a company which so much manpower can't have a perfect after sales an take care off their clients.

I hope Apple will survive but they need to change a lot to satisfy their custumers. They must know that the new area they are penetration are all new customers. They have no long relation to apple an they will swap back to Samsung or LGT if they are not satisfy. We as longtime Apple Customers have another relation and won't swapped that easy but when they will ignore our documentated bugs and feedback. We will also swap and then never come back. I am waiting now for more than 2 1/2 years that they solve 3 serious bugs. No reaction at all. Still open, when I open an new AppleCare case the first reaction is that their is no known bug and i am the first. Strange in this (and forums) hunderds of threads are found about this bugs. For apple these hunderds are ZERO
