Q: iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

I purchased my iPhone SE 64Gb Space Grey with iOS 9.3.1 as a replacement for my iPhone 5S. I have exactly the same issue with my 2015 Audi A3 Sportback with MMI-plus. BlueTooth quality is very bad and i can hardly understand the caller. BlueTooth audio streaming is perfect without a glitch.

The problem does not occur on my iPhone 5S running the same iOS 9.3.1 firmware.

Apple don't care about us... It's the big problem.

Come one guys. Many of you are full of anger in the replies.

It anyone from you a software developer? Be patient, they must find any solution for the problem. It seems that it's not so easy as we think. I know that we all demand working devices and stable operating systems.... I've seen recently a kind of "law" stating that there is no software without a bug. Keeping that in mind, I am not going to return my SE and wait a little while for the fix. It has to work eventually.

There is something in your posts that I cannot just simply get - returning working mobile phone to the apple store only because there are some software-oriented problems with the BT? Maybe our polish mentality is slightly different that in other nationalities.... I'd wait for the solution.

The only problem with that plan harkens back to the iPhone 4's antenna problem. Many waited for the "software fix" that never came. The "fix" was in the next version of the iPhone: the 4s.

Yep, exact same situation, with 2 tiny differences: 1) that was a hardware design issue with no fix possible, 2) ANYONE can get the latest update for themselves to see if BT works for them in their particular application:

    1.  No fix has been reported by anyone reliable.

    2.  It s uncertain whether this is a hardware issue.

    You are SO FUNNY...

The only one NOT RELIABLE in this thread is... YOU!!

Many have reported their fix. Including me.

YOU are just angry because you returned your phone while many of us fixed this issue

Either that or you are shorting Apple at the stock market...

Haha.  Yes, like this forum is going to affect Apple's stock...

The only angry ones here are those like you, who seem to have a vested interest in telling everyone that they know more about this problem than Apple.  I'd rather wait and see.  I like the SE and I'll be happy to rebuy it when it works as its supposed to.  And that's all I've been saying.  If that makes all of the "experts" around here angry, then so be it.

    1. Many have reported that they have fixed this issue. Me included

    2. You don't have an SE so you can not report anything, at least until you rebuy it...

    2.  And that won't happen until Apple releases an actual (and fully supported) fix.  That's what I expect for a $500 device.  Not a temporary secret patch that requires being in a special club to find.

Returned my SE and had a full refund, only safe option. I will probably re order in June when hopefully problem fixed but if replacement has same issue with BT I will not hesitate to return for a full refund. I'm keeping my fingers that as I log onto this site with my Apple ID someone from the company is monitoring these posts.

Why are you trolling this thread?  What have you contributed other than increasing your post count and annoying other members?

You're quite the detective.  Most have been removed, but there's one on the previous page.

There's obviously a hardware issue with the SE bluetooth.  That's the only reason that the same iOS version creates the problem on the SE and not on other models.  The only question is whether a software fix can overcome the obvious hardware anomaly.  Since beta 3 of 9.3.2 reintroduced the problem, apparently the beta 2 fix, if it ever existed, was an accident, which highlights the problem of relying on betas as a functioning operating system.

Oh, here's another one of yours claiming a "hardware issue"......which to those of us with fixed SEs couldn't be any farther from the truth, as the rest of the world will soon see.....tick tock!

Hey boys(dc and mr) how about taking your love for one another somewhere else or to private chat.   Some of us work and don't need our emails filled up every 5 minutes with the two of you going back and forth

No you are the problem, you know nothing, antenna is HARDWARE, BLUETOOTH is software.
