I had to change Apple ID because of a new internet provider and subsequent new e-mail address. Both my iPhone and iPad continually request the password for my old user ID. It is password I know longer know or have on record. What to do?

I had to change Apple ID because of a new internet provider and subsequent new e-mail address. My iPhone (5c/9.3) continually requests the password for my old user ID. It is password I know longer know or have on record. How do I get the iPhone to recognize and use the new Apple ID rather than the old one?

What function/service on your phone is asking you for the older ID?

If it's iCloud, you must provide the Apple ID and password that was used to sign in. Call Apple Support if you can't provide it. They may be able to help. Are you the original owner of the phone? Do you have the bill of sale/proof of purchase?

Any of the other services can be signed out, and then back in.

When you changed your ID to the new email address, did you sign the old address out of everything like:

Settings>iCloud

Settings>iTunes & App Store

Settings>FaceTime

Settings>Messages>Send & Receive

If you did not, then you need to do that now. If it is iCloud that is asking for the password to the old ID, you should be able to use the current password to sign the old email address out of iCloud.

Cheers,
