Best screen capture program to use

I am just transitioning from a PC to a new mac mini. On my PC I had a program called screen hunter that allowed you to click f6 and then could

click the mouse and drag a box over what you wanted to capture on the screen and it would put it on the desktop so you could save it and print it if needed. Is there any similar free program for the Mac?

  1. In the Finder, choose Help menu > Mac Help
  2. search for "screenshot"
  3. choose "keyboard shortcuts" (I think)

  • Full display = Command + SHIFT > 3
  • marquee (your described action) = Command + SHIFT > 4
  • a "window" of ANY kind (try it out and see) = Command + SHIFT > 4 > SPACEBAR (will turn the cursor into a "camera" & hilite the window over which it hovers) > click the mouse

The file will automatically save to the Desktop and be named with a timestamp
