    Hi everyone

My iphone 6s also has the same problem but with only the 2.4 GHz wifi router at my home. If you observe that your phone can maintain a stable connection with some routers but not with some others, I have a way to solve this problem for you.

Let me first clarify what I mean by a stable wifi connection. If you connect your phone to wifi, lock the screen, leave it idle for a couple of minutes and find it still connected to wifi (as indicated in the status bar) immediately upon unlocking the screen, then you have a stable wifi connection. If you find that wifi connects a few seconds later, your phone has the same problem as mine. Here's how you can solve it.

Step 1: You'll have to figure out the most congestion free wifi channel for your router. Take help from this article - http://www.howtogeek.com/197268/how-to-find-the-best-wi-fi-channel-for-your-rout er-on-any-operating-system/

Step 2:- Configure your router to use that channel. The settings are generally accessible on http://192.168.0.1

If not, see the user manual you got with the router or use google.

Step 3:- Open wifi settings in your phone, forget and join the network again.

This does not mean that your router or your phone's hardware is defective. This happens because ios 9.3.1 and ahead has a bug in wifi chip firmware or driver. IMO it is very unlikely that apple will be able to solve this problem because their developers would have to get a patch for this issue from the chip vendor but they won't have time for that because it's time for iphone 7 now.

I came across this page when I googled to check whether apple is stinking up to the high heavens. I hope my solution was useful.

    Cheers

Interesting comment you've made here. Those of us that seem to have sorted their issues have done it via the router. There's definitely some sort of handshake mismatch going on here. However this has been an issue for many since iOS8 came out a year ago, and not just with the iPhone 6. So there's something more going on and again the somewhat random nature of this makes it all but impossible to narrow down to one specific thing. If all iPhones were affected then it's a simple matter to get to the root of the issue, be it hardware or software related.

I'm now two weeks into my fix and still all's fine. My iPad Air is running 9.3.2 just fine and not had any issues. My iMac does have a slight issue connecting to the 5ghz channels initially after a reboot, which again suggests some handshake issue with the router. It's also curious that different brands of routers add to the mix.

Just seen an updated FW release for all Airport devices that addresses certain handshake issues with multiple users on same network. This might have something to do with this issue although non Aiprort users won't benefit.

Hi.  Since approx. May 10, wifi became sporadic on my iphone 6 plus.  Very intermittent connectivity while being in my home about 15 feet from router.  Phone was about 14 months old and had never had any issues.  Reading these threads it occurs to me that the problems likely happened right after an update.  My husband's 5s was fine and Ipad was fine.  I did everything suggested. Completely restored my phone to new and that made no difference.  Took 3 plus days to reload everything due to the intermittent wifi.  Called my carrier and they couldn't find anything on their end.  Contacted Apple Support and did everything they suggested.  Shut down and rebooted router and modem.  Meanwhile all but my Iphone 6 plus continued to do fine.  Convinced it was a hardware problem I went to Apple store yesterday.  They ran diagnostics and didn't find anything, and couldn't replicate wifi not working in those few minutes.  I got a new phone and haven't added back apps yet.  Tried to get on App store this morning and have same issues.  I see this phone has 9.2.1 update where my previous one had 9.3.1.  I believe my problems may have started with 9.2 on the other phone.  So frustrated!  Going to try on a different wifi network on Friday, but when I tried that with my previous phone it didn't matter.

I'd just like to add my experience here in the hope it might solve the issue for people having similar wifi connection problems and not finding any of the suggestions working out.

I Basically had the situation where  both my iphone and MacBook were not able to connect to the wifi in my apartment. On my MacBook it was telling me I had a self assigned IP, on my phone just nothing but the searching for wifi connection signal. From all the advice I found online, nothing worked out. Luckily it was both my iPhone and my MacBook so the situation caused me to delve a bit deeper.

I logged into my Linksys router and looked around for anything out of the ordinary. Turns out that there were a number of devices logged on/active.

We'd recently had a guest stay overnight and she had connected with a number of different devices. It looked as though they were still logged on, even though she was no longer there. I also noticed that the number of allowed devices on the router was set to 6 and that both my devices, while still in the list, were marked as offline. I decided to delete all of her devices and increase the allowed number of devices on the network to 10. As soon as the router re-configured the wifi signals on both devices came to life again. Pretty pleased cibsideing I'd sat for a few hours scratching my head and searching for a solution.

Maybe it is an obvious thing that I foolishly overlooked, this I don't know. But hopefully by sharing my experience I can save a few headaches.

Similar problem for me. Immediately after updating to ios 9.3.2 my iPhone 5S looses contact with Apple extreme and Apple Express router. Have tried the reset of my phone and reset of network settings, but not getting any better. Now I am frequently using of my my 4G capacity being at home without noticing - something that NEVER happened before. Tempted to try something else than iPhone next time ...

Have the same problem and 9.3.2 did NOT fix it. Same problem as nothing has happened.

I upgraded to the new ios 9 & my wifi connectivity went mental would drop as soon as i left the modem, wouldn't reconnect or find wifi signal unless i was next to modem & manually re joined, then disappeared as soon as i was 3-4m away from the modem again and i tried EVERY fix i could find! except for the freezer thing it seems a little ridiculous, but what actually ended up fixing the issue was a little unexpected. Just on a whim i decided to remove the sim card from the phone & reinsert and AMAZINGLY it immediately started working i could once again roam all over the house & yard & not only stay connected but automatically re join my wifi when in range instead of needing to be physically beside it! Simple fix but its working for me.

Same exact problem, no fix available. But - found that 5 GHz WIFI still works in our cases. Any fix for the iPhone 6 "incorrect password" WIFI error?
