Home button broken and IPod won't turn on.

So it actually started with me on an app, for some reason it froze on that app, I didn't do anything to it but it just froze. It just ended up turning itself off so I was like ok whatever, I've dealt with this before. I waited a bit for it to calm down then turned it on with the lock button, it didn't work so I had to hold the top button down longer, it finally turned on and for some reason it didn't go to the lock screen where I have to put my code in but it went straight back to the app it froze on, and I tried going back to home on the device to go to a different app thinking nothing really happened but it wouldn't let me, I'm using the home button on the screen because my home button broke a while back. So, I'm stuck on twitter so I thought it will sort out its problems later, well it didn't, now it wont even turn on. I've tried charging it and plugging it into my laptop but it wont turn on.
