iPod Touch won't connect to iTunes

My iPod Touch won't connect to iTunes. When I connect it to my laptop with the USB cable my laptop recognises it; the iPod starts charging and Windows 10 asks me if I want to open it to view files but it seems to treat it like a camera and just wants to know if I want to get images off it and onto the laptop.


I have made sure that I have the latest software updates on both the iPod and iTunes and thought this would correct the problem but iTunes still won't recognise my iPod as it never appears on the panel for me to sync things to it, etc.


How can I get my iPod to be recognised by iTunes again? It has only very recently stopped connecting.
