A "Buddies" window showed up on my desktop. it says that I am offline. How do I change or get rid of it?

Hi,
Use the red button.
Is it titled across the top ?
By default in Messages > Preferences > Accounts the Bonjour account is not Enabled. However using the Window Menu you can make the Buddy list visible. (or by using the keystrokes)
Also by default having multiple Buddy Lists (Bonjour, AIM, Jabber including Google and/or Yahoo) will have a combined list.
IF there is only one Buddy list the combined one take on that name (So the Window menu my say "Buddies" but the window is titled Bonjour)

Thank you! I got rid of the Buddies window. I also have an AOL Instant Messenger window that keeps asking for a password and it won't go away. How can I get rid of that one?

Hi,
Same way as to the Buddy List window.
In Messages > Preferences > Accounts you could untick the "Enable this account" if you don't want to use it.
You can also deactivate it in System Preferences > Internet accounts
As it show you can use Apple issued IDs as valid AIM Screen Names
To make it work you add the password for your Apple ID. (AIM and Apple set up a deal 15 or so years ago now that allowed Apple IDs (Originally @mac.com ending ones) to be Valid Screen Names).
Once the Password is in the Keychain then the pop up asking for it should not appear (unless you have deeper problems)
EDIT.
I have asked the Hosts to remove the pic as it shows your Apple ID
