I have a 2012 15 inch macbook pro that doesnt startup. It shows flashing folder with question mark in it. I tried booting into recovery mode, but that causes kernel panic. I have attached image of kernel panic screen in hopes that someone can help.

It is possible the HDD is corrupted.

An early 2011 MBP came with Snow Leopard installation disks. Take the OSX disk and try to boot the MBP holding down the C key.

If it boots, after the language selection, there should be on top of the display.

Click on UTILITIES.

From the drop down menu, select DISK UTILITY.

Run DISK UTILITY>FIRST AID.

If the disk cannot be repaired, you will have to replace it.

Ciao.
