iPod

Q: connect to iTunes to restore this iPod

I erased my iPod shuffle using disk utility. none of the computers I have access to recognise my iPod shuffle anymore. I do not have administrative priveleges on any of the computers I have access to.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

    What was the actual reason for erasing the iPod?  Is there a reason you did an Erase using Disk Utility, instead of doing a Restore using iTunes.  By doing an Erase in Disk Utility, the iPod does not have any of its onboard software.  And you may have erased it using partition scheme and format settings that are not correct for an iPod shuffle.

     

    When you connect it to your Mac and run Disk Utility, does it still appear in the Disk Utility sidebar? 

     

    Do you have access to the person how DOES have admin access on the Mac?

    It does not appear in disk utility, but It appears on the desktop of my mac

    And what was the reason for needing to Erase the iPod, and do it using Disk Utility instead of doing a Restore in iTunes?

     

    If it appears as a mounted disk on the Desktop, it should appear in Disk Utility's sidebar.  Disconnect all other USB devices.  Connect the MacBook's power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.  With Disk Utility open, eject the shuffle from the Desktop, and then disconnecting it and reconnect it (by itself) while watching the Disk Utility window.  Maybe it appears in the sidebar as something you don't recognize as the shuffle.

     

    Is this a 4th gen shuffle (currently sold model), or an older shuffle?  Which model?
