Q: Photo stream stopped syncing on iPhoto 9.5 Mavericks

I have iPhoto 9.5.1 running on a MacBook Pro 2012 with Mac OS X 10.9.5 and an iPhone 5 running iOS 9.3.1.

I also use de iCloud Photo Library.

When I opened iPhoto before, I used to see Events, named like 'feb 2016 Photo Stream', showing the recent photos taken from my iPhone.

Now the latest Events do not show anymore. We are in April, but the latest Event I can see in iPhoto is from February 2016.

As I recall, in March no changes were made in Settings that could affect this issue.

How can I get the Photo Stream syncing back?
I tried the directions in this discussion : After upgrading to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5 my shared photo streams seem to contain no photos when seen in iPhoto. From …

But it didn't work for me.

These are my iPhoto>iCloud Preferences:

And these are my System Preferences > iCloud:

After the issue, I upgraded my iCloud storage to 50 GB, hopping that the problem were caused by lack of space, but it didn't work.
Any advice would be appreciated.

My Photo Stream and Shared albums do not count against your iCloud Storage.  They are free.

Have you tried to reset the iCloud settings on your iPhone as well?

Did you also try to disable My Photo Stream on the iPhone and then turn it on again?

Your  iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and fully charged? The Camera.app is closed?

    Thanks for your reply, léonie.

By 'reset the iCloud settings on your iPhone' you mean logoff then login again? Yes, I tried this.
I can see my recent iPhone photos when I visit my iCloud.com account via web browser.

I cannot find 'My Photo Stream' settings on the iPhone, at least not with this name. What I do find on the iPhone is Settings > iCloud > Photos (active) > iCloud Photo Library. Should I look anywhere else?

On my MacBook I can select Shared > iCloud in the left column, but the photos there are not the same as I see on the icloud.com site. On iPhoto I only see a few of them, the same ones that appear on Events > 'dec 2015 Photo Stream'. I don't understand why this specific and only this month is there...

That is the correct settings panel.  You need to scroll it. If you scroll it up, you will see a setting "Upload to My Photo Stream" at the bottom.  Is that active as well?

there is no service names iCloud Photos  - there are several services that apply to Photos - maybe this will help understand the various iCloud Photo Services

    https://www.apple.com/support/icloud/photos/

but most of them require Yosemite or newer - iCloud  Photo Library is not available on OS X 10.9.5 and there is no service named iCloud Photos

Hi LArryHN, so maybe what I need is not iCloud Photo Library ('iCloud Photos' is probably an inacurate translation from my Portuguese OSes).

What I want is to restore the capacity of automatically viewing my latest iPhone photos on my iPhoto 9.5 - Mavericks.
It used to work like I explained above: I just opened Library > Event and there was one Event for each month. These events stopped updating on february.

That is what "My Photo Stream" is doing. Enable "Upload to My Photo Stream" on your iPhone as shown in my screenshot.

Are only the monthly events missing or did the photos not import at all?

Try to toggle My Photo Stream on and off in the system preferences and in iPhoto and then restart the Mac.

Does that kick my Photo Stream off?

If not, check the cache where the photo stream photos are stored on your Mac.  My Photo Stream is downloaded to a folder in your user library.

Open your user library and look at the subfolders of the folder (~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/), not inside the iPhoto  references the files there, until you import them or they are automatically imported and appear in the monthly events.

Is this folder empty?  Are the missing photos there?  If not delete all subfolders of ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/)  and restart he Mac.

Your user library may still be hidden. To reveal the hidden User Library:

    • Bring the Finder forward by clicking on the Desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock.
    • Select your user/home folder (with the house icon in the Finder sidebar)
    • With that Finder window as the front window, press the key combination ⌘J to bring up the View options.
    • In the View options panel enable ’Show Library Folder’. That will make your user library folder visible in your Home folder.
    • Now open ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/
