Xcode - Installed apps list for my device under Window-->Devices

If I go to Window-->Devices in the Xcode menu then select my iOS device that is connected to my Mac I see a list of installed apps. How is that list of installed apps determined? It seems to be all of the apps on my device that have been developed by my team. Does it use the developer profiles I have on my Mac to determine that? I'm asking for security reasons because it allows you to download the entire app container even if your iOS device is not unlocked. Thanks in advance for any help!
