Q: Help: cannot get my Health App to read from my Apple Watch

Hi All

So I have been trying to get My Health App to read from my Apple Watch.

If I go to 'Sources' in the Health App, I see my 1. IPhone & 2. Apple watch

1.If I select 'IPhone' I get the message 'Go to the Motion & Fitness settings under Privacy in the Settings app to control fitness tracking on this IPhone'

I have done this already & selected the 'Health App' but the error message persists.

2. If I select 'Apple Watch' under sources I get the message 'Go to the Apple Watch App to change health data settings for this Apple Watch'

If I go the to health App on the Apple Watch app, then I only see my personal details like birthdate, height, etc... but nothing to do with Data

Please help, I'm lost

Thanks.

    Hi

As your iPhone and Apple Watch are already listed as Sources in the Health app, they are both already sharing data to the Health app.

The data cannot be viewed via the Sources tab. Instead, all data that has been shared to the Health app can be viewed via the Health Data tab.

For example: on your iPhone, in the Health app, go to: Health Data (tab) > Fitness > Steps:

    • The first screen shows a chart of recent Steps data, including tabs that can be used to view the Day, Week, Month or Year.
      • To see all available data for Steps, tap on Show All Data:
        • Most data points will likely have a watch symbol (when your Apple Watch was the data source);
        • Some data points may have an iPhone symbol (when your iPhone was the data source).
      • When producing the chart on the previous screen, the Health app adjusts results to avoid any double counting of data. It does this by using only one available source whenever more than one source has provided data for the same period.

Similar charts are available for other health and fitness information including, for example, Heart Rate (Health Data > Vitals > Heart Rate).

Preferred charts can be added to your Health app Dashboard (the first tab in the app). When viewing a chart, tap on Show on Dashboard. Some charts are already included in the Dashboard by default.

This is not an error message. It is just advising where to go if you want to edit the fitness tracking settings for your iPhone.
