Keychain Password Issue

Hi,

I use a MacBook Air, OS X version 10.9.5

I've recently signed up to icloud and since then I've been having issues with passwords.

I've tried resolving this by "resetting the keychain passwords" and "returning to default" but it doesn't accept anything. The issue seems to be that I don't have an older keychain password to revert to.

I've also tried to unlock the keychain in Utilities but it requests a password there too.

Can anyone help please?

Are you able to use your user password to unlock the keychain? The keychain needs to be unlocked to make changes.

Hi Eric,

I'm afraid I'm not able to use my password to unlock the keychain, no.

Also, when I start the computer it looks for a 'local keychain' password (can't remember the exact wording).

You are welcome. Try running Keychain Access/First Aid and resetting the original keychain (if you haven't done this as the article states).
