How long should safe mode start up screen (grey apple with no progress bar) be left before giving up and trying something else?
I'm troubleshooting a screen flickering issue that turned into a reboot loop issue (without the screen flickering) where the progress bar under the grey Apple would get about half way through when it restarted itself.
I've started in safe mode, now been sitting on the grey Apple start up screen for about 2 hours.
iMac (mid 2011) 3.1GHz running El Capitan, 4GB memory, 1TB capacity (at about 90%).
