i would like to know if my iphone 5s is refurbished or original by serial number

FYI: Refurbished 6+ that was received in Apple store less than 2 weeks ago does not
follow that pattern. The pattern you cite may or may not indicate an iPhone is
refurbished, but if it does, not all refurbished iPhones follow it or are so numbered.
You cannot tell a refurbished iPhone by serial number. From what source in
what country did you acquire this iPhone? What makes you question whether
the iPhone is refurbished?
Not sure about the older models, but for 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6+, 6s, 6s+, if the first number of the serial number is a "5", it's a refurb (or an Apple Certified Remanufactured device).
