You need to take it to an Apple Store along with a dated receipt to prove you are the original owner/purchaser. It is possible Apple may be able to release the lock. We cannot help you with it.

No other solution except to recover the Apple ID and password that was used to sign into iCloud on the device. Was it his own ID, or is it an older ID that you have previously used?

You can search for Apple IDs here: FORGOT APPLE ID. Once you find the correct Apple ID, change the password and then you can sign it in to the iCoud account.

Again, if he knows what the Apple ID is, then the password can be reset - go to: Apple - My Apple ID

and click on Reset Password. If he doesn't know the answers to the Security Questions, then contact Apple Support to have them reset: ACCOUNT SECURITY SUPPORT.

If he doesn't remember the Apple ID, then use the link I provided in the first post to find the Apple ID, then reset the password.
