Cannot enter a password in terminal

Hi all,

Since upgrading to the latest OS I cannot enter my password into Terminal. Every day I have to run a script to stop Apple from stealing data from me as I am on a very low data plan. Yesterday I couldn't run the script because of this so I manually quit the process in the Activity Monitor. Sadly it started itself up again and stole my entire month's data allocation 😠 . Here is what I get. There is a lock symbol that has suddenly appeared. I have googled and couldn't find any answers. Hope someone can help.

Mac Pro (Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Have you tried just typing in the password there? I see the lock also but just type in the password (which does not appear) and the sudo is executed.

Thanks Duane. Yes tried that many times. No joy 😟 I know that the password doesn't show as you type it, having been doing this for a while in Terminal. It is only after the upgrade to El Capitan that it has done this.

When you resolve the password issue, put -w between unload and /System (leave spaces around it). That should permanently disable launching of that service.

Awesome, thanks. Well the password issue seems to have disappeared. I set a master password so perhaps that solved it. Not sure. Been driving me crazy all week! Still don't know what the lock is though.
