Why don't I have a Live Photo button?

I have an iPhone Plus. I am looking at my screen while in the camera app and do not have a live photo button. I never have had one. I'm updated to the most recent OS (9.3.1). I tried going into restrictions to make sure the camera switch was on. I'm trying to avoid formatting and re-installing the phone.

What do you see when you put it in Photo mode? Because Live Photos only work in Photo mode, not in Square mode.

Take and edit Live Photos - Apple Support

But according to the model number you supplied, you have an iPhone 6, and Live Photos only is available on 6S and later:

iPhone 6

Year introduced: 2014
Capacity: 16, 32, 64, 128 GB
Colors: Space gray, silver, gold
Model number on the back cover: A1549, A1586, A1589

Details: The display is 4.7 inches (diagonal). The front is flat with curved edges and is made of glass. The back is anodized aluminum. The Sleep/Wake button is on the right side of the device. The Home button has Touch ID. There's a True Tone LED flash on the back and a SIM tray on the right side that holds a "fourth form factor" (4FF) nano-SIM card. The IMEI is etched on the back cover.

See the tech specs for iPhone 6.

yes I’m quite clear on that fact!

I’ve read all of the comments and responses and you were very clear on stating that you believe it’s only those two 6’s - however I am telling you for fact and with proof of pictures that i used to be able, with this phone, take Live Photos, look at live photos, and edit live photos.

- I no longer can after updating to 11.

- I can still look at Live Photos/ I can still play live photos/ i can still download and edit Live Photos /

- but I cannot take them anymore. the button is gone whether it’s on photo or square mode User uploaded file

and to make it clear here is me playing a live photo on the phone that is a 1549 iphone 6 now, after the pic above:

I don't know what else you are expecting. I provided you with the actual documentation from Apple indicating that your model phone does not have the Live Photos feature. Also, I still have not seen a screenshot of your device showing that the Live option is not available on the Photo screen.

Also, not sure what you think someone on this forum can do. You say you had it before, but your model does not support Live Photos, so there is not a lot anyone can do from a distance. You came to the forum, you received an answer, and you still feel that there is a problem. So, at this point you need to take in into Apple.

Sorry there is not a different answer, but there simply isn't.

This has nothing to do with what I believe, it is what Apple has clearly and unambiguously stated:

Take and edit Live Photos

Capture photos that come alive when you touch them. Then you can pick a different key photo, add a fun effect, edit your Live Photo, and share with your family and friends. All from your iPhone 6s and later.

From the article I posted above: Take and edit Live Photos - Apple Support

Also, you don't need a 6s or above to see Live Photos. I can see them on my iPhone 5s.

The screenshot you provided to show that the Live Photos button was not showing had the camera in the Square mode setting. So, that screenshot doesn't show anything since that button doesn't ever show up on that setting.

Your best bet at this point is to take the device to your nearest Apple Store. There is really nothing more I can provide remotely. I have provided the facts, and in this case, that is really all that I can do from here.

Best of luck,

GB
