Q: Encrypted Disk Image disappeared

Macbook Pro Retina 13 mid-2014

Osx Yosemite 10.10.5

I had created a 4.5gb encrypted partition through Disk Utility

Needed more space, so went again into disk utility with the disk unmounted and 'Resized' it to 10GB. Then I mount it and went into the Partition tab.

I drag the corner all the way down to fill up the space and hit Apply. It went through the motions without error but it did not actually extend the partition to the resize.

Followed the steps indicated in this article http://blog.kyodium.net/2010/11/increase-disk-and-partition-size-in.html

Result is that partition disappeared! And won't mount again!

Now when I try to mount clickin on the .dmg file, it correctly asks for password but then gives a message like:

"The following disk images failed to mount:

parition_name.dmg > no mountable file systems"

Anyone can please help?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Use the Disk Utility’s Repair Disk function on it, or restore a backup copy of it.

I'm afraid that's not possible, there in no visible partition now.

When I try the df command on the Terminal the result is this

Filesystem    512-blocks      Used Available Capacity  iused    ifree %iused  Mounted on

    /dev/disk1     487932936 345024232 142396704    71% 43192027 17799588   71%   /

Sorry, I try to make myself clear.

I had created an encrypted folder following these steps How to create a password-protected (encrypted) disk image - Apple Support

When the folder was almost full I tried to modify its capacity, however I had the same problem of this user Encrypted Disk Image Won't Partition After Resize

I followed the suggestion in the page the user used to solve the problem in this page  http://blog.kyodium.net/2010/11/increase-disk-and-partition-size-in.html

but the solution didn't work and the partition is not visible anymore.

These are the steps I took with no use following the instructions in that blog

    Thanks Niel,

but as I wrote I can not see the partition anymore, so I can not find any way to do what you suggest.

    from a Terminal session

You do not have any extra patitions.  the "Macintosh HD" partition contains all your storage, except for the small Recovery HD partition.  All the other items are structural data to maintain the partitions and file systems.

I can see that, as I wrote in my first comment...

The fact is that, as I wrote before here Re: Encrypted Disk Image disappeared the problem started after I tried to have more space for a 4.5gb encrypted partition I had created in this way https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201599

I went into disk utility with the disk unmounted and 'Resized' it to 10GB. Then I mount it and went into the Partition tab.

I drag the corner all the way down to fill up the space and hit Apply. It went through the motions without error but it did not actually extend the partition to the resize.

Trying to find a solution I followed the steps indicated in this article http://blog.kyodium.net/2010/11/increase-disk-and-partition-size-in.html

and after I did this (you can read the command line procedure I used in the comment I linked before) partition disappeared! And won't mount again! And can not see it too!

Now when I try to mount clickin on the .dmg file, it correctly asks for password but then gives a message like “Unable to attach “Partition_name.dmg" (no mountable file systems). There should be a way to revert the process but I don't know it.

Possibly the critical step has been the creation of the GPT table, but it's just my guess.
