How can I make an external hard drive into extra RAM on a MacBook Air?

Well I will tell you any way.

The MacBook Air is not a game playing computer and there is nothing you can do to it to make it into one. The MacBook Pro would be much better. But really in order to get what you want you need to get a Windows laptop such as Alienware.

1. The RAM on the MacBook Air is soldered to the logic board and there not upgradeable by anyone, including Apple.

3. You might consider selling your air and purchasing used a MacBook Pro instead. MacBook Pros made before 2012 are upgradable and I'm sure you can get them for less than £1500. PCWORLD in Tottenham court road even sells what seem to be brand new ones For around £700.

I think that is a bit of an oxymoron there. It has been my experience that you can get a PC that is either fast or cheap but never both at the same time.

RAM and hard drive are two different things. You might as well ask if you can buy 4 more tires for your car to increase its speed.

No mortal human being can change an external flash drive into RAM. But perhaps Harry Potter can.

Alas, Hard Drive and RAM are two completely different things, and one cannot convert the one into the other. Sorry.

Your only practical option is to purchase a computer that has additional RAM already installed.

The least expensive Mac is the Mini which is priced at over ₤350. A high performance model would be twice that price. There is no inexpensive Apple Mac for your requirements.
