Excel always open maximized.

Microsoft Excel 2016 always open maximized. it's supposed to opens at the same size I closed it, I don't know what happen and it keep open maximized, which is so annoying since I use 5k Imac.

any solution?

any help appreciated.

I had the same issue. Fixed mine by opening the file I wanted (which opened maximum size). Closed that. Unlike the PC, where hitting X closes the application as well...you need to close the file (the size that you want) and then close the app completely. Opened that file again and it went back to the right size, not maximized as it was before.

I was wondering if drilling down into the options, either in Excel or in System Prefs might find an option (like a selectable option), but I just looked and am not finding one. I'm on a mid-2010 running OS X 10.11.6 and office 2011 and just tried closing and reopening existing documents and they do open as I described. Strange you are having this issue. Have you tried the above suggestion of going to the Microsoft forum?
