Q: printer drivers for ip4300 and El Capitan?

Are there any drivers for the Canon iP4300 on the El Capitan operating system? I had to get a new wireless router recently, and after I did, my network doesn't recognize my printer anymore? Or am I out of luck and just need to get a new printer?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Unfortunately, there is no driver support for El Capitan for a Canon iP4300 for El Capitan >  https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/suppo rt-inkjet-printer/ip-series/pixma-ip4300

    So try this.

Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners then select the Print tab.

Right or control click your printer on the left then click:  Reset printing system

Then restart your Mac and printer.

You may need to check the manual that came with the printer to setup your Wi-Fi settings.

The iP4300 was released in August 2006. The last printer driver that Canon released for this printer was for OS X 10.8. This driver may still install and operate on 10.11 so here is a link to that driver. If the driver does not install or function correctly, then there is free driver suite known as Gutenprint that supports the iP4300.

Since this printer only has a USB port, then to make it available on your network you would need to connect it to the USB port of this wireless router or some other wireless print server. Note that the ability to see the printer on the network has nothing to do with the printer driver. In this case it would be caused by the wireless device that you are connecting the USB cable of the printer to.

As a test I suggest you connect the iP4300 directly to your Mac via USB. Then open Printers & Scanners and add this printer. When that is done, open a document and see if you can print. If this works it confirms the Mac is compatible with the printer and that you have a network issue. In that case, please confirm how the iP4300 is connecting to your network.
