Q: El Capitan download issues on 10.6.8  ...help!

I tried downloading El Capitan last night. I was directed to the app store to download, clicked that, left it running over night and when I looked this morning there was a message popped up on screen saying this application could not be downloaded or something to that effect. No explanation, help button or nothing. So now when I go back to the app store to try downloading again the download button just buffers for a few seconds and nothing happens.

Can't seem to get any answers on this website and I will be really ****** if I have to go ordering a prehistoric disc for 10.7 and wait 5 days for it to arrive.

Running on MacBook late 2008 Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 2GB

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Have you installed this Snow Leopard update for continued App Store compatibility?

Here are the models capable of running El Capitan:

    • MacBook (Early 2015)
    • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
    • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
    • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
    • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
    • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    • Xserve (Early 2009)

If your MacBook is aluminum, you can upgrade.  If it's not, it's too old.
