How can I reset factory settings for the Apple Maps app on my iPhone 6? or any other app on my phone that I can't delete?

I have permanently loaded applications on my iPhone that I can't delete. Since I can't delete, I want to at least re-load these apps to their original factory settings when I first bought my phone. My maps app have addresses that were texted to me via spam and I can't remove them from the app. I tried using the clear all recents function but it removes all other recent searches but this address. Help!

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.1

Thanks very much. This solved an issue I had struggled with for ages as I really didn't want to have to do a full reinstall for a silly glitch. On my iPhone 7+ running latest iOS (10.3.2) every time I searched for a new location on Maps the map would zoom in on a previous location. The only way I could see the actual location I had searched for was to select 'get directions' at which point it would show the route. This was extremely annoying and I tried numerous solutions. Thanks again. 🙂

For the Maps address issue, try a Forced Restart just in case. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Nothing to lose.

The only ways I know of to re-load native apps to factory settings is to do an Erase All Content & Settings or a Restore as New using iTunes. These steps will return your phone to factory condition but would require that the phone be reconfigured from scratch, likely not worth it for this issue.

Ok, one more possibility. Try it this way:

Try resetting the Maps App. Close Maps completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Maps preview pane until it disappears from the screen. You may have to look for the Maps pane by scrawling to the left. Then do a forced restart again. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

If it does not work you may have to restore as new to reset the native apps, a pain I know... 😟

If you made a backup before restoring you can restore from that backup and recover your photos. You can then import the photos to your computer and then do a restore as new. A restore as new through iTunes installs a brand new iOS system into your phone including the native apps, it is like getting a new phone as far as the software is concerned. The address would not be embedded any longer. See below for a restore.

Then again, you may just want to forget about Maps and use Google Maps instead, that's what I use.
