AirPrint not working on HP ENVY5540

Hi I have just purchased a new printer that has AirPrint but I cannot get our mobile devices (2 iPad 2's) to find any air printers.

Our desktop is a iMac, the printer is in another room USB connected to a Airport Extreme on our ethernet network. The Airport Extreme is in bridge mode with wireless off. I am wondering if the Airport Extreme maybe causing the problem?

Any suggestions appreciated

Apple is very serious about the Air in AirPrint. AirPrint requires that the printer must connect to the network using a wireless connection.....not USB.

If you don't want to set up your printer to connect using wireless, you won't be able to print from any type of iOS device....iPhone, iPad, iPod......unless.....you add additional 3rd software like Printopia that might allow iOS devices to print over a USB printer connection. More info here:

you have to go to your wifi setting on the iOS device, then you find the wifi connection for the printer tap on the and connect then go back to print your docs!

this is the only way i can print anything from my iOS devices!

keep in mind you will have to go back and reconnect to your regular wifi after you've finished printing!

my printer shows up as: DIRECT-6E-HP Officejet 57.... if that helps

it is the same printer!

OK so go to: settings< wifi wait for the different available connections to load.

As soon as you see: DIRECT-6E-HP Officejet 57....choose that connection and wait to

verify the connection has been made.

Then go to the document or whatever you're trying to print, select print and it will bring up a list of

available air printers (should only be one) select HP ENVY 57.... And then select print. Voila....it should

start printing your doc or pic or whatever!

oh and this is assuming you've set your printer up on your wifi network as well!

the printer needs a connection to create its own connection I believe!

I Don't know how much clearer I can make it than that!

oh and I have no software or usb connection, not saying that the printopia

software and a usb connection won't work, just wasnt my personal choice

to find an easy fix to the problem.

Thanks,

Lance
