how can I export mp4 files from imovie?

Hello,

basically I need the videos from imovie in mp4-format.

I have found a converter which seems to work really good, but the full version is 30$ and I would like to avoid this if possible.

It seems as if formerly it was possible to choose the format when exporting from imovie, but the only options I have with my version is youtube, facebook, vimeo, file, picture, theater and itunes. Until now I use "file", but this creates mov-files by default.

Does someone have a trick, a hint, an idea? the freeware I´ve found creates really poor quality.
