Kernel panic - damaged memory?

Hello everybody,

I really hope that someone of you might help me with my problem.

I bought a Macbook Pro 13 inch, 2012 model (The non-retina one that is still available today) and upgraded it then with a Samsung 840 EVO SSD and 16 gb of "Crucial CT2C8G3S160BMCEU".

It worked fine for over a year, but recently, I am getting crashes on a irregular basis, sometimes right after starting, sometimes in the middle of working...

This is the latest crash report:

The only information from this report is, that the crashing process is named "launchd". However, sometimes its "mdworker", "spotify" and many more...

Can someone tell me if there is a hint which could help me solve my problem?

With kind regards and thanks in advance,

"Avast" is the worst of the whole wretched lot of commercial "security" products for the Mac. Not only does it fail to protect you from any real danger, it may send personal data (such as web browsing history and the contents of email messages) back to the developer without your knowledge, give false warnings, destabilize and slow down the computer, expose you to network attack, and corrupt the network settings and the permissions of files in your home folder. Removing it may not repair all the damage.

Some versions of the product also inject advertising into web pages. In short, apart from the fine print in the license agreement, Avast is indistinguishable from malware, and is arguably worse than any known malware now in circulation.

Please back up all data, then remove Avast according to the developer's instructions. Restart. Never install any "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" software again.

If you tried to remove Avast by dragging an application to the Trash, you'll have to reinstall it and then follow the instructions linked above.

If the next crash/panic report has either of:

com.avast.AvastFileShield

com.avast.PacketForwarder

in the list of 'loaded kexts' you didn't uninstall it correctly. Otherwise, post the new panic report. Make a note of the precise time the crash occurs and also post the section 'SYSTEM LOG QUERIES - All Messages' in Console.app from the minute or so immediately preceding the panic.

If you have the defaults for Spotlight preferences -- it may be finder spotlight processing is causing a memory leak -- so you have to take control of same -

If your system has a slow wakeup or power-up (sitting on grey or blue screen) wait until the desktop comes up - then from the apple menu do a restart - if its still a bit sluggish - restart until the desktop loads the way it normally does.

I think that Spotlight indexing is only tested in the office and since snow leopard Apple has no clue that it hits a point where it has memory leaks and causes crashes or sticking.

Please start your own "New" thread (see "New" button at the top of this page). mrvn_'s problem is still in progress, and trying to solve 2 problems in one thread gets very confusing for both the people asking for help and for the people trying to give help. Feel free to follow this thread and try anything you see, but for discussing your problems, please start your own thread. Otherwise you would be threadjacking this one.

In your "New" thread, post the output from your kernel panics

Kernel Panic reports: "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports"

<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2546>

<http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>

The panic report should have "panic" in the file name.

You may also want to post your EtreCheck output in yoru "New" thread

<https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174>

<http://etrecheck.com>

The problem may be caused by a bug in OS X, triggered by "Flash Player."

Please open the Safari preferences window and select the Security tab. Uncheck the box marked

Allow Plug-ins

See whether there's an improvement.

You can watch videos on YouTube and some other sites without using Flash by installing the "ClickToFlash" or "ClickToPlugin" Safari extension. That's not an endorsement. You must always do your own research to determine the safety and effectiveness of any third-party software before using it.

That would be great if that were the case. I have been seeing a ton of these "Kernel Trap"/"IOAcceleratorFamily2" crash dumps with no obvious cause, and in many cases zero 3rd party kernel extensions. And it does not seem to be related to a specific OS X release.

If a root cause could be isolated, that would be wonderful.
