Q: Device manger has old phone name

I purchase a new iPad and used my old backup to be able to continue with the apps I have. Once I used

the back up on my older Ipad I renamed it. When I look at my device manager is shows the old names

I used. How do I change it to show the new name I use?

iPad 2, Windows 7

    Hello Daywalkerr,

I understand that you would like to see your iPad's new name when looking at the back up's within iTunes. Let's go over some info to make sure those changes have taken place.

As long as you have changed the name and performed a backup, then you will see those reflected in your backup. Take a look at the articles below for more details about changing the name of your iPad and performing a backup within iTunes or iCloud.

Perhaps you did not read my request. If I did not make a change then I would not be asking for assistance. The change

I made are reflected on all my devices, but it is not reflected in device manager when I sign in on iTunes.

I'm sure norm123 read your request, but its a little unclear.  When you say "Once I used the back up on my older Ipad I renamed it."  What did you rename?  The backup?  The older iPad?  The newer iPad?  Something else?

What change are you referring to?  What is shown "on all my devices"?  What device manager are you referring to?  Within iTunes?  The Windows Device Manager?  The Apple Mobile Device Manager? The name that shows up when you connect the device?

So, what is the problem?  When you now connect your new iPad to iTunes, what happens?  Does the name of your new iPad show up?

You don't really backup your old iPad apps.  You simply sync them to your new iPad using iTunes.  Here is what you need to do:

My Device manager show an old ipad name. 2. when I connect my ipad to itunes it show the correct name. 3. yes the name shows up when I plug in my ipad.3 no i really do not. 4 yes. 5 I did that. I am done with all that.

In my itunes account there is a section where you can manage your devices and show the devices that are associated with my account. It allows you to delete said devices if you want. but, when I look at all the devices that are associated with my account the name are from my original purchase iphone 4. I have an Iphone 6. I changed the name on my itunes once I synce it. the device that device that shows up and syncs is the new name. The device manager in my account show the old name.

    The device has new name

the itunes sync show new name

the device manager show old name

Let me try to clarify this:

When you open iTunes you will see your device on the left side of the iTunes. which as the correct name or new name. on the upper right side

you will see your name, when you click on your name a menu will show on the bottom of the menu "Account info" clicking on it will show your

details once you enter your password. The section that says "iTunes in the Cloud" you will see "manage device" and "manage". clicking on

manage device will show device associated with your Apple ID. The list of devices are old names not the new names I change to months to

    to years ago.
