Bluetooth calls in iOS 9.3.1

Since upgrading to iOS 9.3.1, my bluetooth connectivity (to Grom Audio adaptor) is more stable (good)

But, whoever I have a call (incoming or outgoing) my iPhone 6 "helpfully" produces a popup asking if it should use Bluetooth for the call.

It obviously knows that Bluetooth is the default because it displays a checkmark next to Bluetooth, but the only way I have found to get the call to go to Bluetooth is to select something else and then go back to Bluetooth. So far that seems to work every time.

Not very hands free.

Any suggestions?

Hi lwa01,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I understand correctly, there's an issue making and receiving calls using your car stereo which is paired to your iPhone 6 using a Bluetooth adapter. Try taking a look at the article linked below which provides a lot of great information and general troubleshooting tips that will resolve issues like the one that you have described.
