    Hello there, NicholeDyan.

It sounds like you are concerned with what happens to your iTunes purchased content after Apple Music subscription expires.  Any content you have purchased via iTunes remains yours even after you've unsubscribed from the Apple Music service.  The following Knowledge Base article provides info regarding past purchases and downloading:

    Download your past purchases

Before you can access a past purchase, you need to do the following:

    1. Make sure that you have the latest versions of software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and your Mac.
    2. Sign in with the Apple ID that you used for the original purchase. Use these steps to see which Apple ID you used to download an item.
If you see a message that says, "This device is associated with another Apple ID. You cannot associate this device with another Apple ID for [number] days," you might need to wait to download your purchases. Learn more about associated devices.
    3. Check to see if the purchases you're looking for are hidden. If your purchases are hidden, you might not see them even after you follow the steps below. Learn how to unhide purchases.
    4. See if the content is available for redownload. Previously purchased items might not be available if they're no longer on the iTunes Store. Also, make sure that you’re in a country where you can redownload items. If you changed your Apple ID from one country to another, you can’t download items you purchased in a previous country.

If you're a member of Apple Music, items that you've saved for offline use won't appear in your purchased section. Learn more about Apple Music.

If you're using Family Sharing, you can download content purchased by other members of your family group.

In addition, you can find a good recommendation in regards to your downloaded content as well in this article:

    About Apple Music

When you join Apple Music, you can play just about every song ever recorded*, and get experts to recommend the right ones for you. Plus, you can listen to radio with unlimited skips, and access your entire music library on all your devices.

    {...}

    Back up your music

Back up your iOS devices, and your Mac or PC, so that you have a copy of your music and other information if your device is ever replaced, lost, or damaged.

Apple Music doesn't include a backup service, so make sure that you always have a backup of your music collection.

Finally, if you don't want your subscription to renew after the trial has expired, the following article offers up what steps to take:

Manage your Apple Music membership on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC

Turn off automatic renewal to cancel your membership

If you want to cancel your Apple Music membership, turn off Automatic Renewal.

Your membership might renew if you don't turn off Automatic Renewal more than 8 hours before your renewal date.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. In the Music app, tap your profile icon in the upper-left corner.
    2. Tap View Apple ID. You might need to sign in.
    3. Under Subscriptions, tap Manage. If you have more than one subscription, tap Your Membership (Apple Music Membership) to see your membership options.
    4. Under Renewal Options, turn off Automatic Renewal. Confirm your selection, then tap Done.

If you don't see the option to turn off Automatic Renewal, your subscription will automatically stop at the end of the current billing cycle.
    5. Tap Done to return to your Account screen, and then tap Done to return to the app.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

    Cheers.

First - BACKUP the music in your library before turning on Apple Music and especially iCloud Music Library (which handles the "matching" part of AM).

Any music that you previously had in your library (whether you burned it from CDs, purchased it from iTunes or another website) will still be yours (hence the id of the BACKUP).

Any music that you add and/or download from Apple Music will no longer be accessible if you cancel your subscription. Even if you download the tracks and back those up, they come with DRM and will no longer be playable after your AM subscription lapses.
