touchscreen not working at few areas , and random typing

The touch is not working at some particular areas of the display. and also it is behaving erratic manner, opening , closing , switching apps and typing randomly on its own..sometimes the home button also stops working,,

The problem started with "ghost typing" and auto switching of the apps. and recently the touch at some areas on the display also stopped working..

I dont have a Apple care center around , so I thought to get some views about this problem before relying completely on the local repair shop guy...

Do you have a cover on the iPad that could be interfering with the screen? I have seen others report ghost typing and it turned out to be hardware problems, but try some basic troubleshooting steps. Close all apps and force restart the device first.

Close all apps. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the app you want to close. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

Now force restart. To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If that no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but all of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. This includes WiFi password. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

thanks for the reply..

No, there is no cover,

"Close all apps. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the app you want to close. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it" -- Done this already, although its difficult since my IPAD switches between the apps quite fast on its own.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think at this point spending more money on your iPad is throwing good money after bad. Unless you can find a repair shop that's willing to work for free to solve a riddle I think the only solution is to save your money.

A second thought. If you haven't done this already retrace the trouble shooting steps Demo has already given you. With iPads having no user serviceable parts we're at a real disadvantage to diagnose what the problem is if it's hardware.
