Q: Will replacing the Ram in my Macbook Pro make it run faster? Is my RAM loose?

I am unfamiliar with RAM and exactly what it does, but will replacing it allow my laptop to run faster?

The only thing I really have on my computer is games (Sims 3 and Sims 4). I have cleaned out my Laptop and only have games, important documents, pictures, music, and Google Chrome. It runs slow because of the space the games need.

I often get messages that I cannot do something because I need more space, and was wondering if replacing the RAM would give me more space.

*Also, I believe my RAM is loose because about a month ago I was carrying it around and the screen went bonkers and made noises and turned off. When I tried to turn it on, I got beeps. Hours later, I wiggled my computer and it went back to normal. Since then the screen has got bonkers once, but went back to normal right away; I was sitting on my couch with it in my lap and perhaps that's why it did that? Is this the result of a loose RAM or is it something different?

Any response would help, thank you!

Beeps can be an indication there's an issue with the RAM. Those beeps can indicate different problems so check this support article >  About Mac computer startup tones

What year is your MacBook Pro, and what Operating System are you running?

RAM can make a computer run faster, but running out of space is usually tied to the hard drive.

Also, how fast a computer loads files and games can also depend greatly on the hard drive. Generally speaking, a slow computer is cause by an old or failing hard drive, not the RAM.

Does your computer have easily removeable RAM? If the battery is easily removed then the answer is yes, if the back of the computer is one solid cover, then the answer is no (unless you have the correct tools and "know how" to open your computer).

Sometimes resetting the NVRAM (PRAM on older computers) can help speed things up.

No.  The CPU governs speed.  Additional RAM will allow you to run more applications simultaneously and efficiently, giving the appearance of the MBP running faster.

Additional RAM will not have any bearing on increasing storage.

    Ciao.

If you download and run EtreCheck, then post the report, that will help to better visualize any issues your Mac may have.
