Problem syncing new playlist from iTouch to iTunes on Mac

I created a playlist on my iTouch. I want to copy it to iTunes on my Mac (my Mac is the master library - the iTouch was just a copy of it, so all the songs are already on the Mac, I just arranged them into a new playlist on the iTouch). When I plug the iTouch in, the new playlist does not show up on the Mac listing of what is on the device (although I can see it on the device). Ideas?

iTouch is running 9.2.1. Mac is running OS X 10.11.3.
