Q: I have a macAir connected to my viewsonic 2437. Can I close my air and still use the monitor only now the monitor displays "no signal" when I close the macsir?

Can anyone hlep me if possible to use the monitor without having the air open? im using the display port with the correct cable.

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
