Q: I can't restore my iPhone 4s in iTunes (Error 4013)
I have an iphone 4s that is stuck in 'connect to itunes' mode and I have no idea how to get it out or restored. I've been looking at solutions for about three hours now and none of it makes sense to me as I'm not phone savvy. The phone was given to me from my mother, who just had it lying around after they bought it at an auction, and told me if I could fix it I could keep it; it was fully wiped but could turn on. Only problem is, as soon as its plugged in, it goes straight from the apple logo to the charger with the itunes logo.
I've tried going in "DFU" mode, recovery mode, and just turning the phone off. Every time I begin to update the phone through itunes it goes through the 'extracting software' portion, completes it, then says 'waiting for phone' before the phone either disconnects itself or restarts and then is unable to complete the update. I'm then given a message saying: "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (4013)".
Like I said I'm not phone savvy so I'm not too keen on taking the phone apart and playing with any charging ports and such like some solutions suggest.
Any help is appreciated!

The genius bar at an Apple store doesn't charge anything for diagnosis. If their tests show that it is a hardware problem they will tell you what the repair options are. If it's software there will be no charge for fixing it. For a 4S the hardware fee would be $149 for a replacement phone. It's up to you as to whether it's worth it.
