Remote iSight camera

Is there a way to have an iSight camera at one location and monitor what it sees on a Mac at another location a thousand miles away?

Hello John Veatch,

Yes you can.

But you still need to have a computer attached to the iSight to do that. By itself, the iSight has no means to do anything except send FW packets to a Mac OS computer. The software, like that shown below would take care of sending the picture to where you want to monitor it.

If you had a new Mac laptop with the built-in iSight, that would work. But iSight alone is not going to do what you are asking.

Check this personally recommended, inexpensive product out here:

And do post back and let us know how it all works out.

Respectfully,

Success. I downloaded EvoCam that you suggested and have now demonstrated the ability to have iSight take pictures every 30 seconds, upload that to our Earthlink websight associated with our email account, and then access it from any Mac or PC anywhere. EvoCam support (Nick) had to help me figure out exactly what my server ftp address was. It's quite good. And only $25. Very cool.

Now I want to see if it is possible to do this same thing except with a streaming video, and maybe with sound.
