This is the type of general utility used to recover data that is lost, for example through unintentionally deletion or data corruption. In iTunes, on the iPod's Summary settings screen, checkmark the setting for Enable disk use, so that the iPod's storage appears to the computer system as a USB storage device.
The iPod's data may be recoverable, if new data has been not written over the existing data. If you can recover the data, take a look at this article for a method to add existing song files on an iPod to your iTunes library
