Upgrade to OS 10.8 from 10.7.5

Question

To a mac mini with SN: VM817ESXYL4 I have the OS 10.7.5 and try to install the mountain lion, but i cant. What could be wrong?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5), 4 mb ram, 500gb hdd

What model Mini?

The 2007 (Macmin2.1) can only go as high as Lion

What happens when you try to update?

Trying to start the upgrade it shows the message "this computer cant be upgrading to maountain lion"

I would like to also ask:

if the fan of mac mini have to be working continuously. Is it correct?

Your Mini can't go beyond Lion (10.7.5).

The fan does run continuously but the speed changes based on temerature
