Q: restore final cut from a new mac onto an old one

Hello!

Our old mac's hard drive is toast so we decided to upgrade to a new one (desktop Mac Pro trash can). But, we have also decided to salvage the old Mac as a secondary editing system (early 2008 Mac Pro 10.5.2).

Final Cut 7 is currently installed on our new Mac. Is it possible to use migration assistant to move the application from our new Mac (OS 10.11.4) to the old Mac (10.5.2)? Or to copy the application to an external hard drive and install it on the old Mac?

We have the FC installation discs, but the serial numbers are missing.

The old Mac is too old to run FCX.

Thanks!

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), FCP 10.2, Compressor, Motion, Toast

Even if you moved from the new to the old...you'll need the serial numbers.  They are easy to get, if it's installed already. The splash screen for Final Cut pro shows them. Take a screen shot.

But migrating won't work. it doesn't grab all the bits and pieces of the app installed throughout the OS. You need to install from the DVDs.
