Updated my Apple id but iCloud is still showing the old email with no way to change it

I recently changed email providers and updated my Apple id to reflect that. However, iCloud keeps wanting me to verify information but is still prompting me with my old email address so it will not accept my valid password with the invalid email. How do I get iCloud to know my new email when my Apple id is already reflecting this?
