Q: Saving iMovies from iPod Touch to iCloud

My daughter loves making iMovies on her iPod touch (latest versions of both). Unfortuantely they are so big that she's filled the memory. I can't seem to find a way to save them into my iCloud where there is plenty of space so that I can delete them from her device

Can anyone help?

Thanks

iPod touch (5th generation), iOS 9.3.1

Are you trying to save the projects, the rendered movies, or the individual clips used in iMovie projects (the ones that are not already in her Photos app)?

If you want to archive the projects (so that they can be edited later or something), you can tap a project in the project list. When it brings up the individual project details, tap the Share button. Choose your destination (iTunes, will let you move the movie to your computer when connecting it to iTunes. iCloud Drive will copy the project to her iCloud account, Airdrop will allow you to move the project to another iOS device or Mac.). Next choose iMovie Project.

The project remains in it's 'work in progress' state and contains the media used specifically in that project. They can be edited on a Mac or an iOS device with iMovie installed.

If you want to save the individual clips saved inside a iMovie project: open the project, tap the media browser button, choose Videos > iMovie Media, tap the clip(s) you want to save and save them to the camera roll.

If you just want the finished product, the rendered movie, Share it to the destination of your choice. If you are presented the option of Video File or iMovie Project, choose Video File and select your desired resolution.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for your very through reply, Admiral. Unfortunately this is precisely where I'm running into a problem. Once I've got to the point of sharing with iCloud I get an "insufficient space" warning saying "there's not enough disk space to send your project to iTunes". Of course, that's exactly the problem I'm trying to solve! I want to delete the movies from her iPod but keep them in the cloud.

THe message is the same whether I choose iTunes or iCloud as the destination.

    Hi Barcodezebra

Did you manage to solve the problem?

I am having the exact same issue with my daughter's iPad.  There's next to no memory left on her Ipad, and according to the settings there is 4GB being used by iMovie.  I can see two projects in there.  One won't let me share at all as apparently it contains clips that have been deleted from the ipad, so I am presuming the other project is the one that's using up all of the memory.  However, when I try to share this project to iDrive (within which I have 40gb of free space) as an iProject (it works fine as a Video file) I get the exact same message you get.
