Q: problems with ios/itunes versions and compatibility
I just got an Official Apple Refurbished iPod touch 5th gen. According to the specs listed when I bought it (still up on the site), the requirements were: OS X 10.6.8 or later (check!) iTunes 10.7 or later (check!) The problem is the iPod is not recognized by iTunes when plugged in. I know there are many reasons why this may be but I'm pretty sure that my problem is the fact that the iPod is running on iOS 9, presumably updated by Apple before they sent it out. However, iTunes 10.7 is not compatible with that. Furthermore, all the solutions to reverting the iOS seem to need a connection to iTunes in the first place. I could update iTunes further, but I am limited by the version of my mac (10.6.8). I suppose I should have researched further before buying but there don't seem to be conclusive results on whether 10.6.8 can support an iTunes that in turn supports iOS 9 and also.... I feel a bit miffed at being essentially lied to by Apple regarding system requirements? I did trust that they would be accurate for the most part, since Apple is generally reliable towards users.
Anyway, if anyone has any advice or tips or suggestions I would love to hear them. I'm afraid that otherwise I'll just have to send it back and have no iPod at all :/
iPod touch, iOS 9.2.1
