Spotlight does not work anymore on my external drive.
I tried to add it to the Privacy list of Spotlight to rebuilt the index like mentioned here

without going into terminal but I got the error
Then reading here
Spotlight gives "Privacy List Error"
I found out to delete .Spotlight-V100/Store-V1/Exclusions.plist
but I do not have that time on the External drive
any idea appreciated :-)
if you put the Hard disk to the Privacy List you must leave it few seconds and After that click on delete sign ( - ) it will be delete
In older system, after you add the hard drive to the privacy list, you had to logout
then login again, then remove it from the list, then the spotlight list start to rebuilt.
So even if apple Tech-note does not mention this anymore, that is what I did but it did not work.
Since then, I erased to install a new system.
I get the same "Privacy List Error" and that prevents adding it to the privacy list
