Q: why is itunes also separating the tracks of ripped CD?

I also have discovered that itunes will when one rips music from a CD take the individual tracks and put them in separate folders within users/username/music/itunes/music according to the performer(s), as would be the case for a Broadway musical or an opera or where there are different singers.  How can I get iTunes to keep all the tracks in just one album rather than breaking them up into different albums.
