Q: problems after 10.11.4 update

How do I fix these problems?

1.When Safari opens it shows a bunch of blocks before it opens into a complete screen.

2. Coming back to the system after it was sleeping, found the cursor available but the screen was black. Could not operate.

3. System freezes, circle of death is many programs.

I am concerned about security even though I never download or open anything unfamiliar.

You may have a hardware issue. Run Apple Hardware Test per the instructions in Using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support. You will need to run in Extended Mode at least 2-3 times back to back. You will need the original install discs that came with the computer to run AHT. If you don't have those then take the computer to your local AASP to be professionally diagnosed.

    1. The Mid 2007 is the oldest iMac model that can run the newer OS X versions, so it is going to struggle compared to newer machine.

    2. Not sure if you have a 2.0GHz or 2.4GHz model, but the 2.0GHz with the weaker graphics is going to have to work a lot harder.

    3. Hard Drive health, Free Space and the amount of RAM installed in the system, are all very import factors to consider as well.

    4. What type of Apps you use and how many are open at the same time, will also determine over all performance and stability.

So on that note: instead of telling you that you need a new or newer iMac, I ask that you run > http://etrecheck.com/ and post back the results.
