Q: Can I reset my MacBook Air and restore the backup I've done before in order to reduce "Other"'s storage space?
Hi,
so I've got the 126 GB MacBook Air. My problem is that Other takes up 87 GB!
So can I reset my laptop and restore the backup afterwards like you do with iPhones to reduce "Other"?
I guess it might work but I'm afraid to trash something...
I hope there's someone who can help me!
Thanks!
MacBook Air, iOS 9.3.1, null

There isn't anything necessarily wrong with "other" as long as it is documents etc that you need.
Doing a backup and restore would just put back whatever you have now. I would not recommend it.
If you don't think the number is correct you can reindex to see if that changes it: Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes - Apple Support
