Apple TV is asking for verification code to sign into iTunes but now it says my Apple ID and password are incorrect

I Purchased a movie on iTunes and was trying to watch it on my apple tv. Apple TV is asking me to enter my iTunes password and add the scurity code. This is confusing as even without adding the verification code it tells me that my Apple ID and password is wrong. I'm dying to watch the new Star Wars movie. And ideas? I've disconcerted the unit and tried again and nothing.
